Since our trade has been successful bi fadliLlah, I have often been asked to give advice to sisters who want to start or to those who have struggled to make themselves known.
Friends, clients or perfect strangers, I had the opportunity many times to share what has worked for us.
It is therefore without pretension that I will try to give you my keys that have enabled us to create a real business that is both profitable for us and for the peoples we are able to hire thanks to this business.
It is therefore without pretension that I will try to give you my keys that have enabled us to create a real business that is both profitable for us and for the peoples we are able to hire thanks to this business.
Tip 1: Place the spiritual component as the priority

Allah Soubhanahu wa Ta3ala said: « And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me. » (Surah 51, Ayat 56).
So getting involved in entrepreneurship is good. Forgetting the purpose behind it is less so!
Some important things are:
- Consult The One Who Administers all matters before making any decision (istikhara prayer). This prayer has a considerable advantage because, beyond asking Allah to direct you to the best choice, you will have no regret. If things do not turn out as expected, you can say Al hamdouliLlah, this is really a good thing for me because I took the necessary steps, I asked my Creator and He directed me to this.
- Constantly renew your intentions. Ask yourself: I create this business for what reasons? Whatever they may be, you must always remember that you do it first for Allah. For example, to finance a Hijra, to finance religious courses, to support your loved ones, to make a pilgrimage, to help the needy financially…
- Maintain absolute trust in your lord in all circumstances. Have you reflected on your goals, consulted Allah, renewed your intentions? Remember that you have gathered what will enable you bi idhni Allah never to doubt because how can you doubt what he decreed when you entrusted your affairs to him? Exit stress and constant anguish, focus on your first goal, remembering that Allah knows better than you what is best for you.
- Thank Allah in times of ease and in times of prial. Whether success comes at your door or difficulties follow, always think about thanking Allah, whether for the blessings he bestows on you or for the hardships he has decreed for you. More than thanking him, show gratitude to him, seeing in every circumstance, good or bad, a favour from him.
Tip 2: Learning the Rules of Trade

Trade is one of the best ways to get our Rizq. Our Prophet, صلى الله عليه وسلم himself engaged in trade. And many of his companions too, among the best of them.
So trade is a halal activity. However, there are specific rules that govern this activity. Also, some forms of commercial profit are illegal.
It is therefore incumbent upon us, as Muslim entrepreneurs, to study the religious rules regarding the jurisprudence of commercial transactions.
This is not an option. It is an obligation, and it is indispensable for our profession.

This is not an option. It is an obligation, and it is indispensable for our profession.
And this is also true for sisters who are not involved in business. As a purchaser of businesses in the community, it is important to know the basics of our rights and duties in commercial transactions.
Many times we have been accused of fraud or cheating when we only follow the rules that have been put in place by our religion while, of course, respecting the rules of the country in which we are registered.

And beyond the many rules that govern trade, don’t forget to always be fair in your transactions and to give up your right if you feel that your customer is feeling aggrieved. For showing mercy, as Allah advises us on many occasions, is better.
Narrated Isma’il bin ‘Ubaid bin Rifa’ah: From his father, from his grandfather, that he went with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to the Musalla, and he saw the people doing business so he said: ‘O people of trade!’ and they replied to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) turning their necks and their gazes towards him, and he said: Indeed the merchants will be resurrected on the Day of judgement with the wicked, except the one who has Taqwa of Allah, who behaves charitably and is truthful.'”[Abu ‘Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan Sahih. And they also say Isma’il bin ‘Ubaidullah bin Rifa’ah.Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1210
I especially love this hadith because it is a great source of reminder about the dangers of this trade! Reading it regularly allows me to put some kind of pressure on myself. So I can hardly forget that choosing this activity puts me at risk for the future. It is up to us to do everything we can to avoid them by being honest and sincere all the time.
Tip 3: Don’t let your business take precedence over your religious obligations

Whether you are a mother, wife, daughter, student, stay-at-home woman or already part of the workforce, you know that the most precious thing you have down here is your time! So learn quickly to optimize your organization and get away from futilities and wasted time.
It is incumbent upon us as Muslim women to organize our days in the first place according to the adorations that rhythm them: Invocations, obligatory and superrogatory prayers, reading of the Qur’an, study of the Arabic language and the religious sciences… These are the activities we need to prioritize, and I’m reminding myself first.

Apart from entrepreneurship, we sometimes allow ourselves to be overwhelmed and then overcome by everyday tasks. Don’t fall into that trap, and before you even start, think about the organization you need to put in place to get there. But always place your adorations first and then all your activities around them.
Therefore, do not hesitate to give you a dedicated time, preferably very early in the morning (after the prayer of Fajr, for example) when reading the Qur’an. This time of day is filled with baraka, and it is the time when you are least likely to be disturbed (except if your baby is still awake !!! ).
Thus you will begin your day in the most beautiful of ways, with a light heart, satisfied with having sought the Pleasure of the One who returns hearts. And so you avoid postponing this to a later part of your day that you may not even have the opportunity to set up.
Finally, this moment called “Al Bokour” in Arabic is the moment of blessing, virtue and distribution of subsistence.
Tip 4: Like and believe in your product/service.

That, I think, is the first condition for properly selling your product or service. You’re not a commercial, or a training salesman? Don’t panic! Believe me, if you are convinced by what you are proposing, FIRMLY CONVINCED, you will be able to convince your audience bi idniLlah!
Whether it’s through your website, your social networks, your exchanges with potential customers, a salesperson who firmly believes in her offer, we can feel it. And the opposite is also true.
So if what you’re proposing doesn’t completely turn your heart upside down, ask yourself the right questions.
“What bothers me about my product? How could I make it more appealing ? How could I improve it to make it perfect, at least in my eyes.”
In my opinion, it is urgent that you quickly correct the situation and that you begin to work on improvements that will allow your product to seduce you before others.
Because how do you get your business to emerge if the person who’s hiding behind it doesn’t really want to use the products it offers?

On the other hand, if your offer meets all your needs, then do not hesitate to manifest your convictions through your communication tools. To do this, use the arguments that convinced you. Because if they have convinced you, they may not convince everyone, but it will necessarily work with some people who share your expectations.
Tip 5: Stay true to yourself and your ethics.

May your business go very well or not, don’t fall into this infernal trap of selling your values for the goods of this world.
In fact, the importance of social networks in the emergence of brands brings you into a system that is not without risks, and that is governed by codes that are not ours.
You have probably noticed that the Muslim community accounts promted by the Instagram algorithm are not always the most representative of modesty.
You have probably noticed that the Muslim community accounts promted by the Instagram algorithm are not always the most representative of modesty.
This is not a general rule, al hamdouliLlah many are visible while remaining firm on their principles. That said, seeing that what is not legislated allows some to gain visibility quickly can influence your judgment. No one is safe!
Having in your Instagram explorer countless publications that combine music, makeup, sharp heels, nudity unveiling, vulgarity… may weaken the heart and faith
This is quite specific to clothes stores. But in a general way, you should not let “trends” influence your ethics and personality. Because they’re part of the DNA of your business, and a DNA doesn’t change, it’s what characterizes you.
Another point: don’t fall into the easy way of doing things like Fulana because it works for her. What works for her may not work with you, you need to appeal to your community and not the Fulana community. Also respect her efforts as you would like others to respect your efforts in seeking out differentiating ideas.
Finally, it is essential that you remain humble when you become successful bi idniLlah.
Nowadays, the number of k has a huge impact on people’s perception. If you have many, you can expect to receive compliments from some people that will potentially touch your nafs and humility, I ask Allah to preserve all of us.

So never forget to respond to compliments with the following invocation:
« O Allah, do not call me to account for what they say and forgive me for what they have no knowledge of [and make me better than they imagine].»
This is the first episode of this series of tips, in the hope that they will be beneficial to the greatest number of people in Shaa Allah.
And we ask Allah to forgive us if we have been wrong and to grant us sincerity in all our works.
