Our Story

Oummi Abi Moi is now a brand that connects Egypt, France, and Morocco, with a team of about ten collaborators.
Brothers and sisters who, through this cause, can work under legislated conditions, preparing or preserving their hijra!
2017/2018 – Discovering Egypt and the Beginnings of the Brand
But in the beginning, it was just a family passionate about knowledge and freedom, traveling to Egypt to learn Arabic with only €5,000 in their pocket (not much, I admit!).
Settled in Cairo, after 10 months studying at the prestigious Al Ibanah center, the savings started running out.
But the desire to stay was too strong.
A friend who had been living in Cairo for many years suggested a solution: buy items from the 3attaba market and sell them in France.
With €800 left, we ventured into this famous market, carefully selecting qamis, abayas, and other products.
Back in France, we did our first photo shoots and launched a Facebook page to sell the merchandise.
And that’s when the name “Oummi Abi Moi” was born, symbolizing family unity and a little nod to all our products, which at the time were for men, women, and children (we haven’t forgotten the brothers and hope to launch men’s collections very soon, insha’Allah!).
Al hamdulillah, the first sales came through, but not enough to fund a prolonged return to Egypt. However, we didn’t give up; we were more determined than ever, so we hired a sister to manage logistics while we returned to Cairo to continue our studies, balancing trips to the 3attaba market to find the best items for France.
Let’s be real: sales were modest, but we didn’t give up, convinced that we’d succeed, insha’Allah (we didn’t really have much of a choice, lol).
2018-2019: Our First “Made in OAM” Models
After scouring all of Cairo looking for simple butterfly abayas and khimars, we realized that either they didn’t exist, or the quality wasn’t great. That’s when we decided, even though we didn’t know much, why not create our own designs?
A friend (who has since become a dear sister) recommended a seamstress, and we designed our first models, investing our last €750 in this project.
The result? A successful launch, with the abayas and khimars selling out in record time!
But it wasn’t easy to reinvest profits into new productions since we started with so little, and the demand was huge.
We continued producing in small quantities, slowly increasing the volumes throughout early 2019.
At the same time, we followed a self-taught web mastering course for several months, finally creating our own website, which was met with great success!
Every restock was almost immediately sold out!
Ramadan 2019 marked a turning point: two major influencers shared our work, and orders poured in, so much so that we quickly found ourselves overwhelmed.
The launch of our website in July 2019 exceeded all our expectations, with stocks selling out within hours.
And Today?
Today, Oummi Abi Moi, although it still feels surreal, has become a reference for legislated clothing in France.
Al hamdulillah, our small family venture has grown into an international team, while maintaining our commitment to the values of our beautiful religion, upholding ethics in our production strategy, as well as in our marketing and communication strategy.
Our brand is sold in dozens of countries, with resellers from France to the United States, West Africa, and Eastern Europe, Allahouma Baarak!
Finally, since the very beginning of this wonderful journey, we’ve strived to offer affordable prices to make shopping easier for our sisters, insha’Allah, and we ask Allah to make this business a proof for us in the hereafter!
